Preventing moisture buildup helps avoid recurrent odors.

Step 5: Air It Out

Leave the refrigerator door open for a short time after cleaning to let the gasket air out.

Safety Precautions

Unplug the refrigerator before cleaning to avoid electrical hazards, especially if you’ll be using water near electrical components.
Wear gloves to protect your skin from irritation, especially if you have sensitive skin or allergies.
Avoid excessive moisture—do not saturate the gasket or surrounding areas, as excess water can damage electrical parts or cause mold growth.
