Behind the Scenes of Zac Kieffer's Boston Marathon Journey: A Conversation with E-Cloth’s President Zac Kieffer

Zac Kieffer, E-Cloth’s President, is gearing up to run the iconic Boston Marathon, and we caught up with him to learn about his marathon journey, his love for Boston, and how sustainability is part of it all—both in his race and his day-to-day life.

Why Zac is Running the Boston Marathon

Zac’s marathon journey started when he lived in Boston and saw the race firsthand. As a seasoned triathlete and Ironman finisher, he’d run plenty of marathons, but Boston was a challenge he couldn’t resist. “I saw the race and thought, this is cool. I should probably do this,” he shared. After qualifying, Zac was all in—because, as he put it, everyone in marathoning dreams of running Boston at least once!

From Soccer to Triathlons to Marathons

Before embracing individual sports, Zac was a competitive soccer player. But a “bad bet” at 24 led him to triathlons, and he never looked back. “Triathletes are a lot of former team athletes,” Zac explained. “They’re driven, and they like the personal challenge.” For Zac, the move to triathlons—and now marathons—was a natural evolution.

Boston’s Charm: The Charles River & Food Scene

What does Zac love most about Boston? Two things: The Charles River and the local food scene. “It’s an awesome spot to run,” Zac said. The fast-paced running community in Boston motivates him to push harder. And when it comes to food, Zac can’t get enough of the local mom-and-pop restaurants. His top pick? Toro, a Spanish tapas spot in the South End.

Running for Sustainability: The Boston Marathon Climate Team

Zac is running for the Boston Marathon Climate Team, an initiative to make the marathon more sustainable. This team works to reduce waste, like single-use cups and massive swag bags, and promote eco-friendly practices. Zac’s dedication to sustainability aligns perfectly with E-Cloth’s mission to reduce waste in the home. “At E-Cloth, we’re all about sustainability, and I wanted to support the Boston Marathon’s efforts to go green,” he said.

Zac’s Favorite E-Cloth Products

As a runner, triathlete, and home cook, Zac has plenty of E-Cloth favorites. His #1? The Cleaning Pad, which he uses for quick cleanups after meals. He also swears by the Wash and Wipe Cloths to avoid wasting paper towels. And for windows? Zac’s all about the Window Cleaning Kit. “The results are amazing,” he said.
